Trends Overview

With the trend reports you have the option to choose a date range just like in the Summary reports, however, here we have added a few extra features.

Trends overview page

This page has some default charts that will always appear if you have not customized it to display a certain trend.

  • Customizing the Trends Overview page

If you want to see the traffic and conversion trends of a certain KPI ( Key performance indicator) you have selected, you have the option to select a page, keyword or referrer trend through the Search drop down button on the left. When selecting a page, for instance, you want to see the trend for your "Purchase confirmation" page, you have to type or paste the URL of the page in the empty field between Search and Target. Similarly, if you have selected Keyword, you should type the keyword in this field. The same counts for Referrer ( also the URL).

The Target contains a list of your target files,(which you need to predefine when you set up Logaholic). These target files are basically installation files that people download if you're selling software, or a life sign up email confirmation that they receive when they sign up for a newsletter ot a subscription.

You can also set the report period of your trends report for days, weeks or months by selecting More Options right next to the Report button. It is also possible to select a Rolling Average Period period for your report from the Period option. The Rolling Average is the indicator of the short-term trend within the overall trend. It is following the numbers more closely than the longer trend line.

Typically, the Trends Overview will contain a bar chart of the Traffic ( for the selected Date range). If you have not selected the More Options and specified a search target ( a page, keyword or a referrer), you will only see the traffic of your site displayed here. The vertical lines represent the traffic to your site per day, and the green line is the trend line that allows you to observe how the trend is developing throughout the selected period.

However, if you specify a target file for your trend search (say, a download file), your Trend Overview will also display an additional chart named Conversion displaying the conversion rate per day as well as the rolling average ( if you have selected one) and the trend line for this target. In addition, the Traffic chart will now also display the traffic to your target file as compared to the overall site traffic and the trend line also for the traffic file. This provides you with a better overview of your traffic not only as a whole, but it allows you to follow the performance of your target files within the site's performance.

  • "Top 10 referrers over time" displays in a very user friendly way the performance of your referrers over time. This provides you with an overview of all your referrers and allows you to see if some of them is becoming less active, or disappeas, or, on the contrary, has gained quite a momentum over time.
  • "Referrers of converted visitors": this apple pie chart allows you to see from which sites most of the buyers on your website come from.Scrolling over the chart displays the percentages that each referrer has contributed. If, for instance, you are running a campaign on Google, this pie chart will display a huge chunk of the referrers to belong to www.google.com. However, if the chart displays something else while you are heavily advertising on Google, it will mean that something is wrong in the execution of your strategy and you need to take measures.
  • "Top 10 countries over time" is the indicator of the countries where most of your visitors come from. With this graph you will be able to observe the trends of countries and link this to a particular referrer, for instance. Say, if you are advertising on a foreign country website you can see if this has impacted the level of traffic coming from the particular country.
  • "Countries of converted visitors" lets you from which country most of your buyers are coming from. This can help you with making decision about advertising in a specific country/site.
