social media analytics

Desktop or Mobile?

Mobile internet usage is going though the roof, but that impacts some sites and web apps much more than others. So it’s time to know: How much of your traffic is mobile?

More trends

A new Visitors per Year report lets you easily compare your traffic from year to year. The OS Trends report give you a high level view of changing OS usage. The All Traffic by Type report gives a birds eye view of how Logaholic has classified your traffic.

Power features for serious analysts

We’ve added some features that might not be at the top of the list for everyday users, but our power users have told us they need it – so we built it!

Private Dashboards:

If you are sharing profiles and dashboards with your clients, it’s sometimes nice to have a private dashboard that only you can see.

Global and Private Segments:

Logaholic’s segmentation filters are great for slicing and dicing your data into cohorts that are more valuable when analyzed separately. If you have a lot of profiles, you can now make global segments that are instantly available in all your profiles. Or, you can make the segment private, so only you can see it.

Custom cookie tracking and user identification:

Imagine being able to identify your visitors by email or username across all your web analytics reports. Custom cookie tracking now makes it possible to use any cookie your site or web app might use to identify a visitor and pass that to logaholic as the main visitor ID.

Dashboard layout options:

It now possible to change the number of columns in your dashboard – from 2 up to 6 columns (some people must have really big screens)!

This version also has improved translations – so you can enjoy your stats in German just as much as in English.

Data export options like CSV and JSON have been improved and enabled on more reports. Your data – use it however you want.

On screen tutorials have been improved to get you up and running with Logaholic in no time.

Logaholic 6.0.9 is now available on our Saas platform or as download.

Believe it or not Social Media Sharing buttons on your site may decrease your page conversion.

In this article you can read how this bold statement is substantiated.

Where it boils down to is fairly obvious, 2 main reason for conversion decrease;

  1. Social proof is back firing; the sharing buttons often contain a zero or low number which suggests that the buttons are (hardly) shared and therefore not interesting.
  2. Sharing buttons distract potential customers, you must have them focused on 1 button only; Right you’ve guessed it, the buying button.

A customer of VisualWebsiteOptimizer has done the math and increased site conversion with 11% after the sharing buttons had been removed.

Through A/B testing (a premium report option in Logaholic) a conclusive test was run.

Read here in detail how they did it, with the A/B testing module of Logaholic the test can easily be duplicated, we are curious to hear if you also managed to increase conversion numbers by removing sharing buttons.

Want to know more on Logaholic A/B testing module, just click here to go to the Report Store and when you are already using A / B testing  but still could do with some technical support read here how A/B testing is setup/configured in Logaholic, ofcourse you can always contact us.

In 2005 Google bought web analytics solution Urchin and used it as the base for Google Analytics. Since then Google turned Google-Analytics into it’s flag product and Urchin development got less attention. In March 2012 Google announced the closing of Urchin.

Since then, Urchin users have been looking for other solutions. Why not use Google Analytics?
Because there are some important differences between these two tools apart from the fact that Google Analytics and Urchin aren’t compatible.

Data collection
Google Analytics uses ‘Page Tagging’ and works with a JavaScript tracker that is added to the user’s pages. Urchin could also parse web server log files, which allows for reporting of some additional metrics, such as: site errors and search engine crawler activity. (read this article on the differences of these methods).

Data storage
The Google Analytics tracker sends data directly to a centralized server. While Urchin kept Data local on the server.

Especially hosting / service providers using Urchin to host their clients statistics, Google Analytics falls short because:
– GA and Urchin are not compatible, history data is lost.
– There is no reliable method to automatically insert the JS tag in the web page source.
– Data privacy is more and more a hot topic.

Logaholic the perfect Urchin replacement; one of the few web analytics packages that processes log files, supports a JS Tag and can be installed locally.

Stop searching for the Urchin alternative you have found it. Logaholic does it all and more:
Highly scalable, seamlessly integrates in any size organizatioin or network.
Fast, reliable, feature rich, has an intuitive UI, offering a level of sophistication far beyond the capabilities of traditional log analyzers like AWStats, Analog Webalizer, including Urchin.

By reading this article on Page tagging vs log file analysis, you’ll learn that either method has its merrits. Logaholic supports both methods and can run in “Hybrid” mode complimenting web server log file data with JS Tag specific visitor data, resulting in even more accurate analytics.

Recently Logaholic has welcomed many ex- Urchin users and hosters, confirmation of a sitll high and growing demand for Log-Analyzers. We will continue improving our product enabling a more accurate focus on improving your business without the need for setup woes or other technical requirements.

New in Logaholic 4 is the ‘Datamanager’, which helps you to clean up your database. By deleting old data from your database, it becomes smaller and faster. It comes with a new and improved way of processing data. As a result, reports in Logaholic load much faster than before, especially if you have large sites with lots of traffic (Big Data). You’ll be spending more of your valuable time analyzing statistics.

In the video below we introduce you to the new Datamanager settings. (view in HD for best results)

To learn more about the Datamanager function within Logaholic 4, please visit the manual section: Datamanager.

As of version 4, it is possible to switch between profiles in the report options. If you use Logaholic for multiple website’s, you can create a custom dashboard where you include all your favorite statistics from those website’s!

Another great new feature is Logaholic’s ability to create Infographics. These are graphical representations of your data centered around topics, so you can have all important statistics at your fingertips. In Logaholic 4, three default infographics will be available. They’re based around the following themes: Visitor, Content and Traffic.

Inpage Analytics
With the new feature ‘Inpage Analytics’ you’ll be able to make a visual representation of your statistics, in order to determine how people use your website. The data is loaded from your Logaholic account and is literally displayed IN your website. With inpage analytics you’ll find answers to questions like: ‘Which links are being clicked on?’ or ‘Do visitors really find what you want them to find?’

In the video below we tried to give you a first impression (view in HD mode for best results).

Email Alerts
Two mailing functionalities were added. From now on it is possible to send your personal dashboards on a daily, weekly or monthly basis to your preferred email address. You can now also schedule infographics for delivery via email. Send these alerts automatically to any email account to receive your recent statistics without having to log into Logaholic. Infographic emails are sent three times a week, each of them comprising different stats.

By popular request we have added a ‘Subscription’ functionality. This new feature is especially interesting for service providers. With this brand new option in Logaholic, server providers are able to allocate reports to their users. Thus, it becomes possible to put together custom Logaholic report packages for clients.

Several other improvements were made on the global scale to enhance your web analytics experience with Logaholic. Probably the most exciting one is the incredible speed increase in this version. Another improvement is enhanced user agent detection. Also, our PDF creator is much better now.

There’s more, but we don’t want to bore you. We hope you will enjoy Logaholic 4.0 as much as we do. Please let us know what you think, your feedback is always very much appreciated.
