We’ve just released a new version especially for customers in Germany which complies with German Privacy laws as we understand them to be.

German Law requires that web site visitors must not be recognizable individually by marketing tools (including web analytics tools). Courts have ruled that IP addresses can possibly be used for this purpose and must therefore be ‘hidden’ from the user. That means that IP numbers must be at least shortened, encoded or hidden completely.

Although we understand the debate in Germany regarding this issue is still open, we have chosen to encrypt the IP address on all levels in Logaholic, so the original number cannot be display to or retrieved by the Logaholic web analytics user. So, the original IP number is no longer stored in any permanent Logaholic database tables.

If you have any questions or comments regarding this version, please leave them below. Thanks!

michael,

We’re happy to announce the release of Logaholic version 2.6. This is a minor upgrade from our previous 2.5 version (which was a major update), but we recommend everyone to upgrade to this version as it fixes a large number of small issues.

What else is new:

  • Logaholic 2.6 now also supports German ! Thanks to Manfred Honka, of HonkaEDV, for the translation!
  • We’ve also improved and added some scripts in the /components/MaintenanceScripts directory for all you hardcore logaholics out there.
  • Improved log file detection and parsing
  • Improved Browser detection
